Global Partnerships Support the US Economy

Outsourcing – contracting outside the United States borders to secure goods or services – often takes on a negative connotation in the current economic and political environment. Many Americans complain that they’re losing jobs to people in other countries and that the trend of manufacturing and sourcing services to global locations such as Asia is negatively impacting the American economy. In turn, legislators listen to their constituents’ complaints and begin to sing the same song.

“Here’s the missing piece of that equation and the reason that it’s wrong,” says President of Global Link Partners Stan Coben. “Many times, sourcing a product from outside the United States and combining it with a U.S. made product adds to the product’s value, making it more marketable. In turn, that makes product sales go up, increasing the demand to develop additional inventory, thereby creating more jobs in this country.”

Coben illustrates this example by describing a global deal that Global Link Partners (www.globallinkpartners.com) recently facilitated. Coben’s firm found an attractive pot covering that could be manufactured to make flowering plants sold for in-home display by a US-based grower even more attractive to major discount retail chains and supermarkets for their merchandise shelves. The grower, by incorporating the pot covering with the sales of his plants, found that demand for his flowering plants increased exponentially and he was able to expand his business.

“The type of decorative covering required to make the pots attractive wasn’t available in this country – no one handled that type of manufacturing here any more so I sourced the product in Asia,” explains Coben. The end result was more profits for the grower and more jobs for Americans.

In fact, the grower, with the facilitation skills and expertise of Global Link Partners, was able to further diversify the containers. Coben found an artist and product development specialist to make the U.S.-based grower’s original product, the flowering indoor plants, more attractive and more valuable to the store chain and in the end, to the consumer purchasing the potted plants.

The grower was able to increase his orders again; the store chain to make a higher profit since the quality and value of the final product was improved by the diversified choices of flowering plants and decorative containers.

The grower required more workers to fill the demand for flowering plants, subsequently providing more people with jobs, An American product development specialist and artist were contracted to create the prototype for the new pot designs and the store chain made more profits.

“This scenario points out the good in developing a global economy,” suggests Coben. “No cog in this melding of product components would have worked without the other components or pieces of the process.”

“As American manufacturing processes become more sophisticated with their electronic devices and robotic processes and increasingly skilled workers, some types of manufacturing are becoming almost extinct here,” notes Coben. “There are many types of products – those that require intensive amounts of intricate handiwork by workers – that are no longer products that American workers and businesses are set up to manufacture.”

Global Link Partners provides the sourcing service to find products or arrange for certain products to be produced in other countries where the appropriate manufacturing facilities and workers with the necessary skills are located. Coben’s firm provides the necessary knowledge regarding importing regulations and tariffs as well as pricing expertise for all levels of the procurement process.

Global Link Partners acts as a conduit to introduce and facilitate business relationships between foreign and domestic manufacturers, artists, product specialists, shipping companies and US business owners to make the best use of each business entity’s strengths, developing the optimal final product for purchase.

Quality, economically produced housewares, hardline consumer goods, crafts, floral products, hardware, industrial parts, fasteners and custom components are some of the categories in which Global Link Partners provides product development assistance, consulting and facilitation. Partnering the right Asian sources with US firms provides the most value for the end products at the manufacturing, wholesale and retail levels.

Global Link Partners provides the expertise to enable every organization in the production and sales process to make a profit and to keep American consumers satisfied.
